How to Create your own All-Occasion Card

I always wanted to make my own paper crafts, and I love DIY book-binding. When I was looking for a card for my parent's anniversary, there were only 2 options in the whole section. I even tried looking for suitable card and scratching out the the "I"s and adding "we" instead (since it was a card from mu sister and me). After an hour I gave up and decided to make my own card. I have enough supplies at home, and with a little thought I bet I could write up something better than most of these hallmarks.

I bought a pack of double sided scrapbook paper from Big Lots a couple of years ago, and I was finally able to use it. (I never picked up scrapbooking. If I were to start now, I think I would go mad!)
I did the letting in the front of the card with letter stamps from Pick Your Plum. I drew the heart freehand (go me!).

After some thought, I decided to take a regular sheet of white paper and somehow adhere it to the scrapbook paper. I could have printed something, but I decided to write it.

Instead of gluing the white sheet inside, I got the idea to sew the pages together. Brilliant. (Funny, I even have a book about embroidery on cards, but I didn't even look at it). I could have added some stitching to the heart on the front, but I didn't have enough time.

I think I may venture more into paper crafting (some day). I love making personalized gifts!

What have I been doing?

I took a day off from crocheting to make a card for my parent's anniversary. I went to the store on Monday, and the majority of the anniversary cards were from the spouse or significant other. I could not find a card for parents. So I took material that I had at home and made them a card. I was pretty pleased with myself.

Now it's your turn! What have you been doing this week?

UGLee Pen Review

Have you heard about the UGLee Pen? I've read  so much about the product that I decided to test it out myself.

The UGLee pen is an ergonomic pen that fits into the grooves of your fingers. There is no need to use pressure or overwork muscles in your hand to get this pen to write.

The ink is a combination of gel and ball point pen design, allowing for smooth writing.

The UG stands for "Ultimate Grip", and I've never seen a pen with this type of grip. It's softer than any grip I've felt, but it is built to last longer. It is said to be indestructible, and so far the nylon grip has stayed intact.

This is a perfect product for all ages, especially for people with hand pain or wrist pain, or arthritis and for children who are beginning to write. Check out these testimonials and see what the pen can do for you!

They have 3 ink colors and 7 different pen colors to choose from. You can also buy ink refills on their website too.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Giving Credit Where Credit is Due: How to find sources for photos

With the creation of Pinterest and other great collection websites, I have noticed that there is a lack of credible sources. More and more people and reblogging and repinning information that is not connected to the original creator. I always like to look at the original website information, in case the reblogger missed some extra information that I would like to know. (Sorry, I blame this on my Sociology degree and all the research I did with articles. I really did enjoy doing it!).

I have a couple of "hacks" to make sure pictures and information you use on your website are true.

The first place I go to is Google Images. They have an easy way to locate specific pictures. If I wanted to look to see if someone was using one of my pictures, I can easily drag the picture from my blog to Google Images.

Google searches websites with this image and finds all the links associated with it.

Same instructions go with searching for a image that is not yours. If you find a nice picture on Pinterest, and you don't know the original website, just drag the the picture again in the image search box, and eventually you should be able to find what you are looking for. I use this especially when I'm looking for crochet pins from Pinterest that do not have the original link to the tutorial.

I found this picture on Pinterest, with a link to media.Tumblr.com. I tried looking for the original blog, but sadly I couldn't find it.

Pictures get taken and claimed on blogs as their own, so if you'd like to keep an eye on your pictures make sure you have a watermark, or mark your pictures with your blog name. You can use http://picmarkr.com/ or microsoft paint/photoshop to give your photos a mark. Sometimes the only way I can find a blog post with the picture is looking up the website.

Sometimes it's tough finding the right photos for a blog, and I want to make sure to give credit to the right person's work!

What Are You Doing? Wednesday Blog Hop #19

Welcome to week #19 of my blog hop! Thanks you for stopping by and sharing your blogs!

This blog hop runs from Wednesday through next Tuesday 11:59pm EST. That gives you plenty of time to write a blog post and submit it.

I choose two posts to feature each week. I'm glad new bloggers had a chance to stop by and share their work. The featured blogs this week are from Elsie May and Bertha and It's Your Life.

Louise from Elsie May and Bertha shared a beautiful wedding ring pillow she created for the Get Crafty with Creative Connections Monthly Challenge.

Joyce from It's Your Life shares the no-till method she used for her Fall garden. I have to start transitioning to Fall plants too, so this is great information for me.

Congratulations to the featured blogs!

What have I been doing?

I bought myself a Nook tablet to take to California. I wanted to buy a padded case, but some were so expensive. So when I got back, I crocheted this tablet case from t-shirts. All I need to add is a zipper on the top. I will write a blog entry on this project (soon).

Here is a view of the monstrosity that is the market bag, I am on the home stretch (or home stitch) of the completion. Rows 15-28 are MURDER. I think I've done a couple thousand double crochets. I hope I have enough yarn. I only bought 7 small skeins and I can't find any more of the same at Blog Lots. Guess I will have to research and find something similar. OR I can just stop and make a shorter market bag. So many decision!
