Picture Ornaments

Here's one of  my favorite handmade presents. My boyfriend is a really creative guy. He likes to make handmade cards and crafts for special occasions.

In 2013, his grandparents passed away, and his dog died in December. I wanted to make something for him to remember them. So I created these picture ornaments.

They were very simple to make with the help of Instagram pictures. I know he had a picture of his grandparents and his dogs on his account, so I looked for the best pictures. I made ornaments for all his dogs, since he doesn't get to see them as much as he would like to.

They were already edited, so I didn't have to do much to the picture except lighten them a little bit. I added the dog's names on the pictures as well. They were then printed on card stock. Each picture was printed twice. I stuck them together to make the card stock stronger and to make the ornament double sided. When they were dry I sprayed both sides with Alenne's Fast Grab Tacky Spray.

I bought myself a Roto Punch for Christmas,  so I added eyelets to each picture. I added red ribbon to hang them on the tree. He was touched when he saw them.

This week I chose to feature this post from Choose to Trust - The Selfie. I can't imagine growing up as a teenager in this day of constant connection with social media. I remember struggling with my identity in the 80's and 90's, and now with online bullying and competition to look your best, it's difficult for anyone. We truly need to find out the way God sees us and learn to love who we are.

Congratulations to the featured blogs!

This week I did my first Pinterest recipe review - Crockpot Chili

I also made this ruffle scarf yesterday! It was a tedious task, but overall simple to make.

I'll write a post about it today (I tend to forgot to write posts about things. I still have a few posts I haven't completed!)

Now it's your turn! What have you been doing this week?

Pinterest Recipe Review - Crockpot Chili

I'm so glad this recipe came out great! Everyone loved it!

Here's the original link: Thick and Hearty Chili by I Wash...You Dry

Here are my ingredients. I was concerned that I wouldn't have enough chili for everyone, so I bought an extra can of diced tomatoes. I used a can each of light red kidney beans, dark red kidney beans and pinto beans. I didn't know how some people felt about black beans. I love black beans though.

I cooked 1 lb. of meat and threw all the ingredients in a large crock pot. Luckily I had almost all the spices for the homemade chili seasoning. I threw in some paprika and adobo for good measure. I cooked everything on high for 4 hours, and it was done when I came home.

I'm glad I picked this recipe to make first because it was SO EASY!! My friends even repinned the recipe! Thanks Shawn!

I don't have a chili after picture because I didn't have time to take one. As a consolation, I took a video of my sister the birthday girl cutting onions. Enjoy!

NEW - Pinterest Recipe Testing

I'm diving head first into my Pinterest recipes with this Crock-pot Chili recipe from I Wash...You Dry. Mmm, check out this chili:

My sister's birthday is today, and she decided that I throw her a not-surprise birthday get together. It wasn't last week that my dad asked me, "What are you going to have for food at the party?" I thought, I don't know, I told them to bring a snack to share and that was that. I know that was not smart of me. What if everyone brings flaming hot Cheetos or just pizza rolls?
I had to act fast. I ordered Cuban sandwiches this morning, but I wanted to make something else. So after studying a few chili recipes, I think this will be the best one for tonight. In just a few minutes I will be making the rush from work to my house to throw this chili together in the crock pot, run to the local bakery to pick up the sandwiches (support your local stores!), and head back to work. I will post a blog tonight or tomorrow about the results. Time to go!

I love this wedding invitations from Practical Ever After. I think handmade invitations and stationary give the event more meaning, because someone took the time to create. I know I will make my own invitations when the time comes!

  1. Weight loss has been good so far. Check out my weight loss!  I am going to continue what I am doing, which is planning the right meals and walking. My Weight Ticker
  2. Pinterest recipe is in progress. I just don't know where to start! Maybe making yummy healthy soups?
  3. I am still waiting on my paycheck this week to purchase more yarn. In the meantime, I am making things from scrap yarns, like spiral scarves and ear warmers (It's not that I don't have enough yarn, it's that I don't have the right colors. You know what i'm talking about!)
