The castillo in Simancas

This week, I'd like to feature Lydia's post Croquetas in Simancas. This is a beautiful post about her trip to Simancas and a delicious croquetas de jamon recipe. Mmm! I love seeing the history behind certain dishes or antiques. This post looks like the travel shows I watch on PBS. Great post, Lydia!

Congratulations to the featured blogs!

What have I been doing?

I am still working on the shawl. Last week I pulled it apart and started over with my own pattern. I'm close to going to the second skein of yarn, and I'm watching every row I make so it won't be as bulky. I had kept me from other projects too. I hope I can get more of it done this week!

I haven't forgot about writing posts about my garden! I'm going to take more pictures and plant more seeds over the weekend.

Now it's your turn! What have you been doing this week?

  • Please post the link to a specific blog entry, not just the blog. I look at every link posted, and I comment in every entry. If you don't post a specific entry I can't comment!

What have I been doing?

I'm still working on that shawl from last week. It's getting too large and wavy. I might have to start over (oh no!), but that's how I learn how to do something right. I feel like it's a good time to try again.

I started working back on my garden over the weekend. Remember the last time I wrote about it? Hmm looks like it was Pumpkin Plants from April 2013. Wow.

Since then, most of the plants I wrote about last year withered away. But the good news is I managed to save one pumpkin plant, and I am proud to say that there's a baby pumpkin growing. How cute! I'll add a post on my plants this week (promise).

Valentine Gifts in Jars

I was browsing through Pinterest as usual, when I saw these gifts in jars. We both love mason jars, and he loves anything that has cool fonts and looks vintage. I found this jar with a handle at one of my favorite places to find random things - the Dollar Tree! It says "county fair drinking jar" with a rooster on it. I put his favorite candy, conversation hearts, and covered it with brown paper. Didn't want to make it look too girly. I tied it together with yarn.

I thought of doing this goldfish bowl, and then I found it on Pinterest. I have an interesting story for this gift. You see, I met my Valentine online (ironically, it was something on the lines of "fish"). It was the perfect idea. I printed these printables from Skip To My Lou's blog. I made the orange one big enough to cover the top. It says "out of all the fish in the sea I choose you". The other on the "fishing pole" (a.k.a coffee stirrer) it says "you are a catch". I would have rather it say "you're the perfect catch".

I brought these gifts over to his work and surprised him, although he surprised me first by stopping by my job with flowers and my favorite handwritten notes. Aren't we cheesy? :)
