Pass the Purse for Domestic Violence

For the month of October, Allstate will give up to $350,000 to the YWCA (Young Women's Christian Association) to help domestic violence survivors gain vital information to stop the abuse.

Just go to http://www.purplepurse.com/ and enter the virtual purse code of 0002 with your zip code, and Allstate will give $5 for every purse passed. Share this information with others.

Allstate is also working with http://nomore.org/ to stop domestic violence and assault.

I've known too many friends that have been afraid to speak out about their situation and how they could not leave because of finances, children or even them thinking that's the way their spouse shows love.  And it's not only about women and children, men are finding themselves on the receiving side. It doesn't matter what race, religion, gender, age, etc.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

This is one of the posts I don't writing. It's so difficult to think about domestic violence when you knew someone in that situation.

My brother's ex-girlfriend was killed by one of her ex-boyfriends. My brother has a son with this girl. Now that she is gone, her parents are raising him. We get to spend time with him every Friday and some weekends. He has autism, and it is a joy to see him grow and learn new things every day.

This is a sad month though, because 3 years ago on October 26th she was removed from this earth.
