New Year, New Post

I will be using this blog more for the crafty things I make. My sister and I were thinking of doing a 365 days of Pinterest project. But not all project are doable in one day, and with me working most of the day I might not have time to do it. But I am going to try to document things I am making.

The problem I have about making things is that I sometimes don't have a clear idea of what to make. For example, I've collected bags and bags full of yarn over the past couple of years. Sometimes I can see what the year will turn into. Most of the time I am trying to figure out the right pattern. I have made hats this year for Christmas, and I made scarves the year before. Now it's time for more intricate work.

So I had an unexpected spring break on the 2nd week of March, but for reasons out of my control. In other words, I had pink eye and I couldn't go to work. On one of those days, I decided to stop by Home Depot to look for some yarn...I mean rope. I found a pattern for a market bag, and I thought I would make it using small rope. I walked in through the plant section and I ended up looking at the vegetable plants. When I was done with searching for rope, I picked up these plants on the way to the register: sweet basil, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, string bean, watermelon and a blackberry bush. I can't wait until something grows!

                   

My first scarves

I wanted to catalog all my completed projects. The first up are two scarves I made last year. 

These scarves were both made using the double crochet stitch. One scarf was a gift for a family member, and the other was a gift for a friend.
