The Boyfriend Look - For Kate Walsh's Boyfriend Fragrance

The Boyfriend Look

I was browsing my list on Bloglovin and I found a wonderful giveaway. You can enter to win the new fragrance from Kate Walsh called Boyfriend. After watching the video on the blog, I logged in to my ghost town of a Polyvore account and created this look.

The fragrance incorporates the scent of muguet, dark plum, myrrh and jasmine for a floral scent, combined with amber and woody musk, to give it a warm scent.   In the video, Kate Walsh describes her fragrance as the way the scent of your man/husband/boyfriend lingers on your shirt. It made me think of a rugged lumberjack of a man (similar to Hugh Jackman). I love his beard and his strong arms. This fragrance must be amazing if it can incorporate all these scents in one!

Kate Walsh Boyfriend fragrance is available at Sephora.

THE BEST tomatillo salsa!

As you know, I LOVE Pinterest. This year I've been trying the many crafts and recipes I have found. I decided to try this Tomatillo Salsa recipe from Garnish with Lemon, and I believe that this is the BEST SALSA EVER!

Photo from Garnish with Lemon

I think this salsa is EVEN BETTER than the tomatillo salsa at Moe's! Have you ever had that salsa? It is my FAVORITE. Now this salsa is my all-time favorite!

I can't get enough of it! It has just the right amount of cilantro and a kick of jalepeño. I love spicy food more because of this salsa! It has such a nice crisp taste to it.

Doesn't it look DELICIOUS?! I also thought of trying it as a vegan salad dressing. I've been trying to incorporate more vegetarian/vegan food. I just love making things with fresh produce.

ZOYA Earth Day Nail Polish Exchange 2013

I'm not much of a girly girl, but once in a while I love experimenting with color, especially on my nails. Look what Zoya is doing? They are offering 50% off a minimum of 6 nail polishes in exchange for 6 of your nail polishes not in the BIG5FREE (Free of Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, Toluene, DBP and Camphor).

This offer ends on the 26th, and I found out about it today! I need to look at my nail polish collection to see what I can trade off.

What Are You Doing? Wednesdays

It's the middle of the week. What are you working on?

Here are a couple of crochet jobs I've completed:

I finished the Sundance Slouch Hat around the end of March. I add an extra inch to the rim. Next time I will have an extra skein of yarn to make the hat more floppy.

I finally found a button for my scrap yarn cowl that I completed in February. I had a half a skein or so of each yarn that I found in a grab-bag of yarn I bought. I didn't follow a pattern, and it's not as difficult as I thought to make the checker pattern. When I make another cowl I will write down how I made it.

Next week I am starting a What Are You Doing? Wednesday blog hop. Show me what you've been working on! Whether it is a crochet/knitting job, a DIY repair, testing a Pinterest craft, or even a post about an idea, I want to see what you're making/doing!

The blog hop will start NEXT Wednesday, May 1!

Pumpkin Plants

I've been wanting to write about these seeds for some time. I planted them almost 3 weeks ago, and look how they're growing?

Week 1

 Week 2

 Week 3

I had a large amount of seeds from one pumpkin from last year, and it looked like the seeds were getting moldy. So I took the best looking seeds and I had to plant them. I didn't know how fast they would grow. I also started reading about pumpkin seeds, and I didn't realize how big they would grow! I did plant them a month earlier, but I hope I can get some pumpkins growing!

Walk Now for Autism Speaks Event Saturday April 20

This is my family's third time walking for this event. We had a lot of fun connecting with the family and getting to know the various organizations that were represented. Last year the event was moved from Al Lopez Park to Raymond James stadium. There were thousands of people gathering together in colorful shirts displaying who they were walking for. So many people know at least one person living with Autism. Year after year our group has grown to more and more supporters.

I love my nephew Aidric. He is really something special, and I want to be one of the people that brings the best out of him. This is why I want to want to focus my Master's degree on learning about Autism and other disabilities affecting our children.

I am thankful for everyone who has given so far. And we can still give more. If you want to give. you can do it Online Here (for donations of $20 or more), or you can fill out the offline form and mail a donation of less than $20.

Have your seen the new Pinterest?

Have you seen it? I logged in to Pinterest today, and I always see the little message one the top of the page asking me if I wanted to change to the new Pinterest. Today, I took the plunge.

This is how my page looks like. The pins are wider and easier to see, and the buttons are bigger.

There are more descriptions about the new Pinterest in their Help Center and Pinterest's Blog

I know I'm not the first person to talk about this. There are many other blogs talking, and there are good and bad comments about this change.

I think it looks great! Anyone else agree or disagree?

Recycled Yarns: Part 3 - How to make yarn out of JEANS

Don't forget to check out the other two How-to's:
Part 1: How to make yarn out of plastic bags
Part 2: How to make yarn out of t-shirts

I know this post is a day late. I was trying to figure out when I can plan this tutorial. I ended up doing this Wednesday night right before I want to bed. It was still done on Wednesday, though!

Here is the third part of my recycled yarn tutorial: How to make yarn out of jeans.

1) First, you will need a old pair of jeans. You can use any type of jean material, from original jean to stretch jeans. It will make a difference on how you cut the jean.

2) Cut a leg off the jeans. Get as close as you can so you can get as much yarn as possible.

3) Cut the bottom hem of the jean leg.

 4) Now you will be using the same instructions from the t-shirt yarn. Depending on the material, you would need to cut about 1 inch strips. The jeans I used were stretchy. I tried cutting 1/2 inch strips, and some of the strips broke when I finished. I used the rotary cutter to cut the strips, then I cut through the smaller seam to continue the loop strips.

5) Flip your jeans to the other side seam, and you want to cut diagonally to make one continuous strip of jean.

6) You then CARFULLY roll up the jean into a ball.

This is what happens when I pulled too tight on the jean yarn. The smaller seams of the thinner parts of the yarn ripped. The smaller seam was not as strong as I thought. But I can still use these strip pieces for another craft, or just crochet the pieces in. I will have to figure something out.

These also look like they could be nice jean roses.

I hope you enjoyed my 3-part tutorial. There may be a part 4 when I figure out how to spin newspaper into yarn...
